Date: 20th November 2008

House of Fraser and the Rocco Forte Collection have appointed a new Scottish boutique agency, Liberty&Cole, to handle the communications programmes for iconic brands Jenners and the Balmoral. Both had previously been handled in-house. The fledgling company is headed up by Rebecca Smith and Emma Miller with Sarah Howden set to join as the third Director as of December 2008.

Based in Edinburgh, yet focused on delivering nationwide campaigns, the consultancy specialises in media and public relations, brand development and management, strategic campaigns and event management, sponsorship and product placement. With over thirty years combined experience working across the communications spectrum over a range of sectors including fashion and retail, health and beauty, food and drink, hotel and leisure, as well as luxury brands the Liberty&Cole directors strive to offer big agency thinking with a distinctly in-house approach. Previous PR clients include Max Factor, Olay, Schwarzkopf, Wella, Starbucks, London Fashion Week, Hamilton & Inches, John Lewis, Jane Davidson and Boudiche.

Matt Chambers, Brand Director of House of Fraser explains his choice of hiring the new company, “We were seriously impressed by the passion, professionalism and dedication of Liberty&Cole Communications. They completely understand the business strategies of the parent brand while appreciating the nuances and independence of the individual stores under their remit. Not only do they deliver on all points but they are also great to work with.”

In the first three months Liberty&Cole has garnered an enviable client list, both project and retainer based including; in addition to Jenners and the Balmoral, House of Fraser Glasgow, DollyLeo Apothecary, make-up artist Sadie Jean Sloss, Giorgio Armani Cosmetics, Stuart Gladstone, Kiehls and EH3, the new concept personal training and therapy in Edinburgh’s New Town.

Having developed creative event concepts for House of Fraser which have been rolled out in Glasgow, Bristol and Oxford Street, the Liberty&Cole team most recently managed and the 170th anniversary of the Jenners department store to critical acclaim.

David Pyne, Managing Director of Tommy Hilfiger says, "Liberty&Cole is one of the few agencies which excels in tailor-made, PR-worthy events, so that everyone involved - from the clients right through to the guests - all feel they've been part of a unique, special and unforgettable occasion. From the client side in particular, they deliver the agreed strategy, provide seamless sponsorship and press liaison with a guest list and final vibe that is right for the client's needs."

With an impressive roster of consumer clients the new agency is also keen to make roads into the arts and culture sector capitalising on all three directors interest and previous publishing experience.
