Relationships in the workplace

England & Wales

It takes two baby

Agency romances are often frowned upon. But in a young and vibrant industry, where late nights often see work spill over into after-hours... erm... activity, it is counter-productive to apply draconian measures to prise staff apart. In fact, many have found the benefits of trust and passion to spur the business onwards.

Partners in business and partners out of it, Brazen’s shareholding couple, Nina Wheeler and David Bell moved to call time on their professional partnership when their own relationship ended in 2006.

Only now, some 18 months on, is Wheeler finally the sole owner of the business.

Given the amount of ink to dot on precious legal paperwork – the languid process lumbering on long-after the personal relationship has ended – in this industry, is it ever worth getting tied up in business with someone you’re personally involved with?
