There are some rumours that are too good to be true. And some that just sound like the rantings of madmen. So, when talk of a new Scottish newspaper being planned was overheard, The Drum asked should we be sending for the men in white coats?

It’s hard to believe. but in the wake of all the doom and gloom about the demise of Scottish newspapers which The Drum reported in its last issues, rumours have emerged that a new title just might be in the offing.

At this stage, frankly, the story has a whiff of a set up, the look of a kite flying exercise, the texture of wind up – designed to alarm the publishers of The Herald and The Scotsman.
