Despite being the fastest growing marketing discipline, digital has witnessed a downturn in profits over the last 12 months. Experts explain how the project-by-project nature of the industry, recruitment issues and business management skills are slowing down its progress.
In the last 12 months the digital sector has seen by far the fastest growth of any of the marketing disciplines, which should be cause for celebration. However, despite sparkling turnover yielding gross income of almost £80,000 per person in the sector, profits have actually fallen since last year.
A report by Kingston Smith published by Marketing Monitor reveals that digital creative agencies across the UK are the worst performing sector, with results “amongst the poorest of all the marketing disciplines.”
