Navy Blue has announced a restructure that has changed the operating strategy for both its Edinburgh and London offices and seen the closure of its Leeds base. The Drum spoke to MD Douglas Alexander, fresh off of his psychotherapist’s couch, about the times ahead for the agency, including its new Budapest presence and his own experiences in the Scottish design industry throughout his career.

You’re never likely to meet a more driven person than Douglas Alexander, the co-founder of Navy Blue. In fact, his sense of determination and focus sometimes scares him too; so much so that he has sought the services of a psychotherapist.

“Everybody should have one,” he told The Drum, “The process really does help you understand yourself and what make you tick. In my teenage years, I was constantly told in my report cards that ‘I must try harder’, that my work was ‘never quite good enough’.
