STV has been busy refining its strategy, disposing much of its unwanted bulk. But it has also been building a strong digital team, hiring the man behind the successes of both The List and The Scotsman’s websites to spearhead the online attack.

As a business STV has now gone full circle. Back in the 90s it bolted on an array of media businesses that included radio, outdoor and newspapers; a strategy which was reflected in its name change to the Scottish Media Group.

Fast forward to 2008. These non-core assets have gone. So too has the empire building name. SMG is STV once more, as the company focuses on its core business of television.
