Morrisons marketing chief Angus MacIver is in high spirits, buoyed by recent growth rates that have outstripped its rivals. That said, he knows that standing still is never an option in retail.
Given that it is Bank Holiday Monday and the streets are deserted I half expect to be told I have turned up to meet Morrisons’ group marketing and communications director, Angus MacIver, on the wrong day. Any doubts, however, are quelled immediately on arrival at the supermarket chain’s vast head office in Bradford and seeing the scores of cars parked outside. “Our stores are open – so we must be too,” MacIver explains. “Retail never stops.”
