Peter Mill, a founding creative partner of The Leith Agency and currently MD of Leith Interactive, has announced his departure from the company as senior copywriter Zane Radcliffe joins The Leith to replace former creative Dougal Wilson.
Mill will remain a shareholder in the company and will be given a role as non-executive director. His decision to leave was amicable, and he will continue to work for Leith Interactive as a consultant on upcoming media projects. Mill has now set up a company called 60 Watt with creative consultant Iain Hawk. Until the end of March the company will be known as Hawk and York, until the rebranding is completed.
Mill said, "This is something that I've been thinking about for some time. The desire to return to copywriting has become irresistible."
Chief executive John Rowley added: "We're very sorry to see Pete moving on, but we're delighted he'll remain a director of the company and we have every intention of being his biggest customer."
As Mill departs, The Leith has appointed Zane Radcliffe, as senior copywriter, and Ken Dixon, who joins as associate planning director. Radcliffe joins following a stint of freelance work where he and his partner, Mike Oughton, had recently worked on 'Not Poodle' for Pot Noodles' campaign and had also worked with Leo Burnett.
He said: "The Leith really punches its weight in Scotland and down south. There is more of a family environment in the Scottish industry and I like to feel I am fighting the Celtic cause moving up here."
Dixon joins from O&M Hong Kong, and will work on the Tennent Caledonian Breweries and Bass Ireland accounts.
The agency has also launched its latest TV ad for Grolsch, which is part of an £11m project for the Coors Brewers brand. The Coors business, however, has been moved by the Edinburgh agency to its London office. The move is due to a conflict of interest as the agency also handles the Tennents account in Edinburgh and chiefs have opted to send the Grolsch account south.
