Choice win eases Claim pain

Uncertainty is still surrounding the future of the £20m Claims Direct account after the firm went into receivership last month.
Manchester-based ad agency Redman Jones only secured the business a matter of months ago and is currently waiting to hear the outcome of talks between receivers Deloitte & Touche and a number of interested potential buyers.
The likely loss of the business is not expected to hit the agency as hard as initially feared, partly due to its short tenure on the account and allied to a recent £2m new business win.
MD Simon Howitt explained, “We only started work on the account in March and we hadn’t developed any major campaigns yet. They obviously wanted to see how secure their position was before getting involved with the marketing. Because of this we hadn’t started gearing up for the business – if we had we’d be in trouble, because obviously it’s a massive account.”
Howitt added that the agency has just won the £2m Choice Hotels brief and the staff that had started on Claims Direct had been transferred.
“We’re just bringing things together, but there’ll be no need for redundancies,” he concluded.
