Leicester-based Fuse Digital, the e-commerce and interactive media business owned by Big Communications, has been appointed to create and build a new web presence for global brewing giant Carlsberg.
The win comes after a competitive pitch against four other new media agencies, one of which was the incumbent responsible for the brand’s current web presence, AKQA.
Simon Davies, head of design at Fuse, who also heads up the new business function for the consultancy, said that Carlsberg had been on their new business database for some time and had received a number of new business mailings. However, the consultancy was invited to present credentials to marketing bosses at Carlsberg in the New Year after it was listed in the top five UK new media agencies by New Media Age magazine.
The consultancy is now working on a new website that will span the brewer’s three brands, Carlsberg, Carlsberg Export and Carlsberg Special Brew.
Davies says that the firm is currently working on the new site and will have it up and running early this month. That site will then evolve over the following three months as more information pertaining to the new football season becomes available.
Davies says: “This is a really great win for us. They said that our enthusiasm for the brand was head and shoulders above that of the other agencies. I think because we come from an advertising background we bring a lot of strategic experience with us that we can use to develop the online strategy.”
Fuse was formed around three-and-a-half years ago and handles clients such as WKD, Triton Showers and Morphy Richards.
