Campbell: going it alone after two years at Citigate Smarts.
John Campbell has left Citigate Smarts new media division, Dijitol, after two years, to launch a new business venture.
Campbell previously worked at MMI, Department S, The Assembly NMA and was voted new media personality of the year by readers of The Drum in 2002/2003. He became a board director at Citigate Smarts in November 2002.
Speaking of his departure, Campbell said: “I have enjoyed my time at Dijitol and will miss some of the great people I’ve had the pleasure of working with there, but I feel that after six years in the industry it is time to move on and do something of my own.”
During his time at Citigate SMARTS, Campbell worked on high-profile brands, including First, See Me, Scottish Information Commissioner, NEC Computers, First Great Western and Morrison Bowmore.
Alan Ferguson, ex-Scottish Equitable e-commerce development manager, will now take over as director of Citigate SMARTS’ new media division to head up the team servicing the raft of clients.
As new media director Ferguson brings 17 years’ sales and marketing expertise in the financial and drinks sectors to Dijitol. Ferguson’s career with Scottish Equitable spans 14 years. He latterly worked for three years in sales as e-commerce development manager and eleven years in a number of key marketing roles, including marketing technology manager.
Ferguson said of the move: “I am delighted to take up this exciting new challenge with one of Scotland’s leading agencies. We will continue to consolidate our existing business and develop the growth of the Dijitol brand.”
The agency has six offices in the UK – Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Belfast – employing 120 staff. Current fee income of integrated business is over £6m.
