Waste Awareness Wales launches £1.5 million campaign

Waste Awareness Wales (WAW) has appointed Golley Slater to handle a £1.5 million marketing campaign to encourage the general public to reduce, reuse and recycle household waste. The Cardiff office of the agency will initially produce an \'umbrella communications strategy\' for the campaign.
The campaign, which spans over a three-year period, will involve the overall strategy being supported by a comprehensive media and public relations strategy.
Brian Mayne, WAW co-ordinator, commented: \"Our aims are not only to promote awareness of sustainable waste issues but also to encourage participation by all residents.\"
He added, \"It is our aim to change public perception of waste to view it more as a resource that can be used to our benefit than as rubbish fit only for landfill.\"
Golley Slater\'s account team will be headed up by the group\'s advertising managing director, Mike Leeson, who will report to Mayne.
