Wilkie takes top SRH role as Findlay heads Forth

Sandy Wilkie, managing director of Radio Forth, is leaving to take up a major post with parent group Scottish Radio Holdings.
Wilkie has been promoted to become director of new business development with SRH and will lead the group’s applications for new radio licences as they become available.
Wilkie has overseen a major restructuring of programming at the Edinburgh-based broadcaster which has boosted audience listening figures and earned Forth One two major industry awards.
He will take responsibility for co-ordinating SRH’s strategy in bidding for a raft of new FM licenses which are due to be put out to tender by industry regulator Ofcom.
Adam Findlay, managing director of sister station Northsound in Aberdeen, will move to Edinburgh to take over as managing director of Radio Forth.
David Goode, managing director of SRH’s radio division, said: “I am delighted to announce that Sandy Wilkie will be taking up this new and important role for SRH.
“Ofcom has announced they will be advertising a series of major licences over the coming months and, in common with other groups, we recognise the necessity of having someone dedicated to drawing together SRH applications.
“Adam Findlay has spent a successful time at Northsound, both as sales director and managing director, and he will bring a new and enthusiastic eye to Forth and the competitive Edinburgh market.”
Sandy Wilkie has spent 30 years at Radio Forth, joining as sound engineer in 1974. A series of promotions led to the role of programme co-ordinator and in 1986 he left to join Radio Tay as station manager and in 1990 was appointed managing director. He left Radio Tay in 2000 to rejoin Radio Forth as managing director.
Wilkie said: “I am delighted to be appointed to this important role within the SRH group and am looking forward to the new challenges it will bring. I hope to use my experience to assist SRH in pursuing new business opportunities that will arise from the raft of licences that are soon to be released by Ofcom.
“I have worked before with Adam Findlay at Radio Tay and he will be a superb addition to the talented team we have in place at Radio Forth. His appointment is a good example of succession management which demonstrates we have skilled professionals around the network who can fill senior positions as they become vacant.”
An announcement about Findlay’s successor at Northsound will be made soon.
