Leith creatives leave to pursue Amsterdam dream

One of The Leith Agency’s most successful creative pairings, Chis Landy and Lee Hempstock, are to leave the agency at the end of September having landed a dream move to Amsterdam to work on the Adidas ad account. The creative team, who have worked on Irn-Bru, Carling and Grolsh, winning a number of awards, will join 180 Advertising in Amsterdam at the start of October to work, primarily, on the global Adidas account.
Speaking of the move Hempstock said: “The Scottish advertising industry has been very good to us. It has been such a great training ground. The creative director at 180 said that the work we had done was more representative of ten years in the industry than the five we have actually been here for.”
Hempstock and Landy’s departure means that The Leith will now look to fill what will be seen as one of the most sought-after creative roles in Scotland.
Speaking of the move Leith’s creative director, Gerry Farrell, said: "When Chris and Lee told me they were leaving I grinned from ear to ear. I think it's brilliant that working for Leith develops you to the point where you can work on global brands like Adidas for a world-famous creative agency like 180. It says loads about this place that creatives like Chris and Lee can go from a placement team to being world-class creatives in just five years. It says loads about Chris and Lee too. They've done great work here but now there's an opportunity for a couple of bright young sparks to come into Leith and become The Next Big Thing. There's two empty chairs here. Who's going to have them?"
