AWA-MAP takes over Planet in £3m pitch win

Recently formed AWA-MAP is celebrating the first major win since its formation with the news that Planet Group Ltd has appointed the team to handle its £3 million advertising account.
The agency, created through the merger of AWA and MAP earlier this year, succeeded in securing the lucrative contract after a round of pitches against other leading Northern agencies. Fellow Mancunians CheethamBellJWT and Clear, among others, are believed to have contested for the business.
Planet, currently the UK’s number one conservatory installer, has a network of 17 showrooms throughout the UK and will be looking to AWA to cement its market leading position and develop the Planet brand. Early projects for the team include launch campaigns for new Planet showrooms in Tipton and Leamington Spa.
Agency director Mel Harding commented: “This is a major win for the business and is just reward for the creativity, planning skills and overall enthusiasm our team displayed throughout the pitch process.”
The account was previously handled in-house by the firm, which is now looking to take its marketing activity on to the next level. The media brief stays with the incumbent agency MediaVest Manchester.
