Gorman consolidates Citigate SMARTS in Glasgow, replacing Lloyd Northover brand

Mark Gorman’s first move as new Scottish chief executive of Citigate Smarts has been to rename the agency’s design offering in Glasgow - Lloyd Northover - under the parent brand name.
This move coincides with the appointment of David Freer as design director, with immediate effect.
Freer worked at Saatchi and Saatchi before launching his own agency Philosophy in London.
Speaking about the latest developments at the new venture Gorman said:
“The expansion of our design service, with a dedicated team in Glasgow, is an exciting development for us. A side benefit of the need to hire a new Design Director so early in the company’s life has been the chance to ask myself what was best for the brand in overall terms.
“Given that I have overall responsibility to drive forward the Citigate Smarts brand in Scotland I thought that, notwithstanding the impeccable credentials of Lloyd Northover, we’d be better served by adopting the Citigate Smarts name if we’re to really exploit our credentials as Scotland’s leading integrated communications agency.
“David is an immense addition to the Scottish creative scene, with impeccable credentials. Simon Shaw bolsters the team from our Edinburgh base and, in Victor Brierley, we’ve got more creative energy than Salvador Dali on amphetamines.
Victor Brierley added: “It’s been a fantastic three months for me and I’m now part of a management team which has to be the strongest around”.
