Studio MB wins six-way pitch for exhibition work

National Museums of Scotland has selected Studio MB to design the upcoming Nicholas and Alexandra exhibition at the Royal Museum, in Edinburgh.
The consultancy was chosen following a six-way pitch, and the business is worth six figures. The exhibition, which will open in mid-July and run until the end of October, will tell the story of Nicholas and Alexandra Romanov, the last Tsar and Tsarina of Russia. It will include several priceless exhibits from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including a family portrait of the Romanovs with their five children. The family were all executed in 1918 following the Bolshevik revolution.
Craig Mann, co-founding partner of Studio MB, said: “The concept is to create a diverse platform that will give the wonderful artefacts coming over from St Petersburg dramatic context and enhance the gripping story of Russia’s last Imperial family. We propose to take the visitor on an emotional journey through the momentous lives of Nicholas and Alexandra and their five children. Each zone will present different visual and sensory experiences using lighting, scale, sound and even altering temperatures to create powerful and poignant atmospheres.”
Studio MB was formed last year by Mann and co-founding partner Charlie Barr, both formerly of Northcross. Other recent successes have included the opening of an exhibition in St Louis, Missouri in the US, for client ProPlay Basketball.
