Mike Phillipson, the co-founder of Leeds-based PWLC, who left the agency in May, has been appointed as the new managing director of Propaganda, Adline can reveal.
Joining the agency on August 1, Phillipson will work alongside chairman, Julian Kynaston, to spearhead Propaganda’s plans for growth and expansion, while also raising the firm’s creative and strategic profile on a national level.
Phillipson has a raft of marketing experience on both the agency and client side, working for the likes of Saatchi and Saatchi, Lowes and JWT as well as holding senior marketing positions for First Direct and Time Computers. During his tenure at PWLC, he was responsible for bringing in brands such as DFS and Foxes Biscuits on to the agency’s client base.
Commenting on his new role, Phillipson, said: \"I have always been impressed by Propaganda’s strategic approach to branding and communications, and it’s first rate creative abilities; it was such a natural choice for me to join.
\"It is a business that has a competitive and streetwise approach that will enable it to win against the biggest agencies in the UK. I am very much looking forward to getting started and bringing in more big brand names, enabling Propaganda to realise its ambitions.\"
Kynaston revealed his delight in the appointment, announcing plans for the firm to become a top 20 UK agency. He said: \"Based on Mike’s experience and achievements to date, I have every confidence that he will succeed in spearheading and meeting this challenge.
