Border Biscuits has appointed Newhaven to create the first ever advertising for the brand and the Edinburgh-based advertising agency has responded to this new business win by making several hirings.
Newhaven secured the Border Biscuits advertising account on the back of a pitch presentation, as the Lanarkshire-based family business seeks to become a leading player in the UK and in European markets.
“Border Biscuits are incredibly popular and, to date, our growth has been built on a great product, great distribution and fantastic word of mouth,” said Border Biscuit managing director, John Cunningham. “But we recognise that the time is right to support the brand with an above-the-line campaign that communicates Border’s quality attributes and our brand personality. Newhaven have proved they’re up to the task.”
Over the last 12 months Newhaven has also scooped new business from the Scottish Executive, Scottish Equitable, Powerleague, Scotsman.com and The Daily Record, while securing project work for Tesco, Edinburgh Zoo, Pipefest, Semple Fraser, The National Galleries of Scotland and Edinburgh Hotspots.
Consequently, Newhaven has bolstered its staff with several new appointments. Gabi Clark joined the agency as senior planner, leaving her former position as consumer insight manager at Standard Life.Fraser Docherty leaves The Union to join Newhaven as a senior finished artist, while Tracey McIntosh, who has completed a six-month placement at the advertising agency, is now installed as a full-time graduate trainee.
Meanwhile, the creative team Paul McDonald and Troy Farmworth have joined Newhaven on a short-term contract.
“Newhaven is doing well and that is all down to the quality of people that we’ve brought on board. It is a fun place to work and we’re all extremely proud to be part of a creative community that seems to get the best out of already talented people,” said managing director Jonathan Shinton.
