Weber Shandwick wins oil and gas start-up brief

A start-up business funded by Edinburgh University has appointed Weber Shandwick PR to manage media relations on the application of its new technology.
MTEM, the biggest ever start-up to be funded by a Scottish university, has raised £7.5 million in funding, to develop a way of using electro-magnetic technology to track down oil and gas reserves more accurately, which could radically reduce drilling risk and save the industry billions of dollars each year.
John Macdonald, Weber Shandwick deputy managing director, said: "The market in which MTEM will be operating is currently estimated by industry experts to be worth around £500 million annually. Our knowledge and expertise of the oil and gas sector will stand us in good stead in delivering this contract."
