McCallum toasts sweet victory

Levy McCallum has been appointed by Greenock-based confectionery company Golden Casket to develop the company’s Buchanan’s brand.
Buchanan’s is a range of toffee and fudge sweets which first originated in 1856. The company hopes that Levy McCallum will be able to capitalise on a switch in consumer tastes towards premium, traditional confectionery.
“While we were considering our approach we purchased all the bags from the entire range and the whole lot turned into empty wrappers within 24 hours,” said Levy McCallum managing director John McCallum. “We knew then that this was a brand worth developing and we’re excited to be working with another of Scotland’s great names.”
As well as the Buchanan’s range, Golden Casket also owns the ‘Millions’ brand, boiled-sweet range Gibbs and fudge brand ‘Fudgy Wudgy’.
