McCann’s Bristol lands £5m AIG Direct account

AIG Direct, one of the world’s largest insurance firms, has chosen McCann Erickson in Bristol to handle its £5m Health Insurance account. McCann’s will produce press and TV advertising and direct marketing as the firm’s retained through-the-line agency.
According to the firm’s global website, AIG (American International Group) has operations in more than 130 countries and jurisdictions, working across four key areas – General Insurance, Life Insurance & Retirement Services, Financial Services and Asset Management. In the UK, the firm has recently agreed a deal to become the new shirt sponsors of Manchester United Football Club.
Managing director of the South West agency, Fraser Bradshaw commented: \"This is one of the most exciting and significant accounts to be involved with at the moment, both in light of the sheer breadth and depth of AIG’s product offering and also their status as sponsors of Manchester United. We are delighted to be appointed as lead agency on the business.\"
The agency has undergone a number of significant changes over the last three years, since the arrival of Bradshaw. He explained: \"We have trebled our revenue in the last thee years and moved from a position as a good regional agency into an extremely strong communications business that now handles clients in national and global markets.\"
\"The composition of the agency and the expertise of each discipline has helped fuel such significant growth,\" he added, \"there isn’t one client within the agency that hasn’t benefited from the channel planning approach we take - and the win this month of AIG affirms the strength of the agency and the competitive advantage we offer.\"
