Nicholls departs 1576 for Bob marketing creative director role

Alan Nicholls, creative director for promotional and direct marketing at 1576, has joined rival Edinburgh-based below-the-line team BOB Marketing.
A founding director at Metis, Nicholls continued to work for 1576 when the company was rebranded as part of 1576’s integrated offering.
He will now take on the role of creative director at BOB
Ward Mulvey, managing director of BOB Marketing said of the appointment: “Alan and I worked together a few years ago at Boroughloch and I’ve watched his progress with interest since. He joins us at an exciting time for the agency.
“We are delighted to welcome a key player like Alan to BOB as he brings with him a wealth of experience and contacts within the industry.”
BOB works for a number of high-profile brands, including lead BTL agency for clients such as SAB Miller, Kwik-Fit, Marshalls Pasta and has recently been involved in developing field marketing work in conjunction with The Union as part of the Executive’s Organ Donation campaign.
Prior to joining 1576 Nicholls spent ten years in London, working with LansdownEuro, part of the JWT group, on brands that included St Ivel, Braun, Marks & Spencer, Natwest Bank, British Gas and Elida Gibbs.
In 1992, he joined McCann Erickson’s Hong Kong agency, working with clients such as China Light and Power, Eagle Star and Nestle. returning to London in 1995 to take up the post of creative director of BBL - a specialist in sales promotion – and worked on campaigns for clients such as Whitbread and Gillette.
He moved to Scotland to become creative director of Draft Worldwide in Edinburgh in 1997, where he worked with BOB founder Ward Mulvey.
Nicholls said: “It is a great time to be joining BOB.
“We are well placed to grow and build on the mix of direct marketing and promotional campaigns they have already produced – as they say, it was an offer I couldn’t refuse.”
