Tennent's appoints Cannon as new marketer

Marketing / Scotland

The Drum has learned that Inbev has appointed Jane Cannon, head of marketing at Scottish Power to the role of marketing manager for Tennent's.

Cannon will take on the role at the end of March, once she has served her notice at the Scottish energy giant.

Cannon joins one of Scotland’s most famous brands, following the departure of predecessor Anna MacLean who left in November to join Glasgow design agency, Stand – one of Tennent’s appointed design agencies.

MacLean joined Stand as its business development manager taking on responsibility for its business strategy.

Cannon oversaw the Scottish Power pitch in 2006 that saw Newhaven appointed the account from imcumbent The Bridge. Despite her move, Cannon will continue to work with Newhaven as the Edinburgh agency is also Tennent’s appointed advertising agency.

The marketing department at Scottish Power is still headed up by Jim Paterson, sales and marketing director, Gerry Dumbreck, head of marketing and Gerry Magee, head of retention campaigns.

No one at Scottish Power was available for comment at the time of going to press, whle s spokesperson for Tennents would only confirm the Cannon’s appointment but would not comment further.
