TBWA appoints new head of media arts

Advertising / England & Wales

TBWA\\Manchester has appointed Toto Ellis as its new head of media arts, replacing Steve McCarron, who is understood to have joined Cheetham Bell JWT.

The head of media arts position was created at TBWA\\Manchester in October last year after being rolled out by sister-agency TBWA\\Los Angeles. McCarron held the role since its inception but is now replaced by Ellis, who was previously planning director at the agency.

TBWA describe the role of the media arts position as, “striving to make brands interesting rather than interrupting what is interesting to consumers.”

Commenting on his appointment, Ellis said: “I am immensely excited to be taking over this role at an incredibly exciting time for TBWA\\Manchester and right at the birth of Media Arts across the TBWA\\ network. I will be working very closely with Lorna Hawtin to put Media Arts and Disruption.”

Robert-Harwood-Matthews, CEO of TBWA\\Manchester said: “We’re really excited to be putting media arts into practice at TBWA\\Manchester. Given his experience with the WW network and relevant experience, it made sense for Toto to take up the role.”
