Gordon Beattie, founder of Beattie Communications is set to launch a bid to buy the licenses currently held by Xfm in Glasgow, Manchester and Cardiff.

Beattie, alongside John Quinn who already owns a 15 percent share of Central FM, will prepare a bid for the stations before GCap hand the licenses back to Ofcom by its deadline of 28 March.
Beattie told The Drum: “We will be bidding for all three stations and will submit a bid on Wednesday.“
“The big attraction for us is the Manchester station with a potential audience of five million and the Scottish station which extends right across the central belt.”
A spokesperson for GCap admitted that there had been interest in the stations but would not comment further.
