Commemorative Medal launched

Silk Pearce has teamed up with Royal Mint and Royal Mail to design a commemorative medal.

Silk Pearce’s design for the cover uses a photograph of the carved phoenix with the single Latin word ‘resurgam’ underneath from above the south door. The word means ‘I will rise again’ and with the sculpture symbolised the re-birth of St Paul’s following its destruction in the Great Fire of London, 1666.

The insert card, which was also designed and written by the consultancy, illustrates and describes key milestones in the cathedral’s development from when a Christian church dedicated to St Paul was first constructed on the City of London site in AD604.

The pack went live on Tuesday. xtg2k
