Quba opens in Manchester to bridge skills gap

New media agency Quba is expanding into Manchester, to compensate for what it calls a ‘noticeable shortage’ of digital marketing talent in its current home of Sheffield.

Quba was established in 2000 as a web design agency and in 2004, started offering digital marketing as an integral part of its business. Recently, the agency says it has found itself in an expansion quandary, hampered by a digital marketing skills shortage in the Sheffield region.

This dearth of digital marketers prompted the opening of the agency’s new office in Manchester’s Piccadilly.

Quba managing director, Matthew Williams, said: “As Manchester is the capital of digital marketing in the north, the move to the city seemed to be the next step to ensure Quba is at the forefront of changes in the industry, while also having access to big clients and being able to further its expertise from specialist recruits, something we found difficult to achieve in Sheffield.”

The agency employs 28 staff and will maintain its Sheffield base.
