Scottish Ballet in free design controversy

Scottish Ballet has been criticized by the design community following a pitch to work for the client.

The registered charity approached four agencies to tender to create communications materials for a fundraising dinner in November. However, the catch was that the pitch was for unpaid work.

The tender asked for fees to be waved for the charitable event although it would cover the cost of expenses or photography.

In return tickets for a Scottish Ballet production and sponsorship ‘in-kind were offered.
A spokesperson for Scottish Ballet explained: “While some agencies kindly offered to complete the work for free, they were not prepared to pitch for the job.”

Two agencies pitched of which one, Pointsize Wolffe, was appointed.
