The Drum understands that sandwich chain Subway is looking for a new PR agency having recently issued an invitation to tender (ITT) to agencies, including several in Scotland.

At first it was thought that the ITT was for a PR push in the West of Scotland, but The Drum has been informed that the client is looking for a new UK PR agency to replace its incumbent London PR agency, McKenna Townsend.

When contacted, McKenna Townsend said it had no knowledge of the move.
The ITT was initially sent out in April, although no one is yet thought to have been invited to pitch at time of writing.

Because the company is fragmented through regional franchise owners, it is understood that Subway’s decision making processes can be time consuming.

It is believed that the client is looking to increase its brand recognition. Previously, Subway’s main use of marketing has been advertising through television, online, posters and tabloid newspaper voucher campaigns.

At time of writing Subway had referred The Drum’s enquiries to its PR agency.
