Real Radio has failed in a £300,000 bid to change the name of Motherwell football club’s stadium to the Real Radio stadium. However, station MD Billy Anderson has said that he is now looking into “other options”.

He has also refuted reports that the football club ‘rejected’ the move, saying; “We were keen to work with Motherwell, and Motherwell did not say no. Unfortunately talks stalled, but we are now looking at other options.”

The club has also admitted that it held ‘preliminary discussions’ with the broadcaster over sponsorship of the club including the name change of Fir Park at which it has played since 1895 but no agreement could be reached.

Motherwell FC will however rename one of its stands after its late captain, Phil O’Donnell who died near the end of a match last year.
