Following a four-way pitch Manchester-based Code Computerlove has been appointed by Butlins as their digital agency partner, tasked with strategic and creative development across their family of websites.

Code Computerlove has been given a brief to improve user experience and increase the effectiveness of online as a sales channel, targeting both new and existing customers across the holiday company’s three websites, www.butlins.comwww.bigweekends.com and www.theshorelinehotel.com

The agency will also be involved in digital marketing campaigns to increase conversion – driving both lead generation and sales.

Code Computerlove will begin work on the account immediately with a strategic review of the website and development of conversion-focused initiatives for the Q1 2009 booking period.

Commenting on the appointment, Tony Foggett, managing director, said: “The holiday industry is notoriously competitive and online is one of the key communication channels where companies can both develop the brand and make a direct impact on bookings. Butlins is one of Britain’s best loved brands and it feels like a real privilege to be involved in developing their ongoing digital strategy.”

Butlins’ head of ecommerce, Louise Linder, provided further background to the project: “Butlins has always had a strong focus on online activity and the business has seen significant online growth over the last few years. The strategy to date has focused predominantly on acquisition and conversion and in 2009 this will extend to focus on every step in the consumer cycle with a particular emphasis on retention and customer service. We were impressed with Code’s experience, enthusiasm together with their clear understanding of the key business issues.”
