Royal Mail has tasked Silk Pearce with designing a new stamp collection to celebrate the history of the Royal Air Force’s uniformed.

‘From Pilot to Plane’ will include four pages of stamps alongside a history of the service, its uniforms and the men and woman who wore them.

The stamp book will go on sale on 18 September to coincide with the launch of six stamps showing RAF uniforms from 1918 to present day, illustrated by artist Graham Turner, and designed by Atellier Works.

Silk Pearce’s design features illustrations and photographs drawn from the archives of the RAF Museum as well as several private collections.

The accompanying text has been written by Andrew Cormack, curator of uniforms at the museum.
