Lloyds TSB says it's 'business as usual' following HBOS merger

The Drum has been informed by Lloyds TSB that ‘it is business as usual’ as the company looks forward to the future following its £12.2billion takeover of HBOS.

A spokesperson at Lloyds TSB Scotland told The Drum that more details would emerge over the coming weeks and months.

The same line was being towed by the Lloyds TSB team last night at the Marketing Society Conference dinner, when it seemed that the staff present were unsure as to what the deal meant in terms of the brand or for the marketing partners of either party.

Speculation has also indicated that Lloyds TSB would retain the brand name of Bank of Scotland north of the border and Halifax in the north of England, which could mean that some of those marketing agencies will likely continue as normal. Certainly no announcements have yet been made to any of them as to their future.

It is understood that Bank of Scotland’s headquarters on The Mound will continue to act as the Scottish base for the ‘enlarged’ company.

Bank of Scotland appointed Newhaven to its above the line Scottish retail advertising account, while Mightysmall was recently appointed to work on a sponsorship advertising campaign for sports and arts events.

Elmwood also recently worked with the financial giant on its annual report and its website.
