Over the years I have always argued for a "spread portfolio" of clients instead of pitching specifically for the pink, fluffy and guaranteed-headline stuff. What makes me sleep easy at nights is my group of manufacturing clients who are all on somewhat of a high right now - winning contracts, recruiting staff and very appreciative of constructive marketing ideas. I'm also dealing with the owners, generally, so there's no departments full of velvet alice bands constantly wanting an agency review. According to a recent report, manufacturing has become fashionable again which is not surprising given the antics of the incompetent halfwits running the UK finance sector. So get out there and add some clients that actually make something for a living - you won't regret it in the long run!
