GMG Radio Scotland’s managing director Billy Anderson, role has been expanded as he becomes regional director for the company.

As well overseeing the running of Real, Smooth and Rock Radio in Scotland, Anderson has taken on the additional responsibility of GMG Radio’s stations in the North East of England.

The group operates Century Radio and the newly launched Smooth Radio as well as Rock Radio as a DAB Digital only station in the North East.

Debbie Bowman, the North East’s managing director will report into Anderson who, in turn will report into group operations director Shaun Bowron.

Bowron said: “Billy has earned recognition and respect both from his colleagues within GMG Radio and the Scottish media market for the way he has driven the success of our Scotland business. He will rise to the challenge of driving forward the development of our North East of England stations and his appointment as Regional Director is part of our ambition to ensure we have the very best support structure in place for our staff as our group continues to grow.”
