28 different agencies from across the regions received nominations for the Cream Awards this year. However, it was Leicester’s Big Communications that tops the list – quite considerably – with 16 nominations, for work for brands that include WKD, Jewson, Lil-lets and Merrydown.
Next in the nominations list is Bristol-based Taxi Studio with six, followed by Wolverhampton agency Connect with five nominations.
Judging took place in Glasgow last month, chaired by creative director of The Bridge, Jonathan D’Aguilar. Making up the panel were Tayburn’s creative partner, Malcolm Stuart, Adrian Jeffery, creative director and co-founder of Mightysmall and The Union’s creative director, Michael Hart.
Speaking at the judging, D’Aguilar said that there was an interesting cross-section of work and that he was surprised at the number of big name brands that are being serviced in the region.
“There is an interesting variety of work from across all the sectors – from blue-chip brands to public service work. While there wasn’t a great deal of television work, what was entered was generally of a very high standard.”
The chairman also added that he was particularly impressed by the design and web work on show across the categories.
