Spencer Cann, regional sales manager for Channel 4 in Scotland, has left his position at the company, marking an end to the company's sales presence north of the border.

Cann leaves the broadcaster without a job to go to and now plans time out abroad before he aims to return to the industry in May next year.

Speaking of his departure, Cann said in an email to close associates: "Plans;  I truly have none, I’m going to hang out in Australia for a while and improve my golf handicap and perhaps attempt to surf again.

"I want to thank everyone I’ve worked with, for and against, and I wish you all the best...  I will be back in May(ish) so all job opportunities will have to wait until then."
