Axis, the Glasgow-based animations group has launched Flaunt, a production arm to represent animation directors.

The new division, which will be primarily dedicated to servicing the advertising industry, will be headed by Paula Lacerda, a senior producer at Axis.

Lacerda said of the launch: “Flaunt is a natural progression for Axis. We have been involved in making commercials for the last 5 years and have been doing some interesting work with our own in house directors.

“Looking to the future, however, we wanted to be able to offer agencies and creatives a wider range of styles of animation and offer more creative opportunities across different media.

“Creating Flaunt allows us to bring together a range of talented directors, designers, animators and producers with diverse backgrounds and skillsets who can bring new and fresh creative leadership to any project.

“Whether it's a TV commercial, an ident, a short film, a piece of illustration or web animation, Flaunt puts great design and strong storytelling at the forefront of its goals, working with a variety of techniques such as drawn animation, CGI, live-action, stop motion, flash and photography to deliver compelling and innovative creative entertainment for any media.”

Flaunt currently represents a roster of seven directors – six Scottish-based and one based in Brazil, Lacerda's homeland.

In addition to the directors, Flaunt also has a network of designers, illustrators and concept artists who they can bring on board depending on the requirements of a project.

An experienced team of producers with backgrounds in animation, live-action and agency production will support these directors.

Lacerda added: “There are so many talented and creative people in Scotland who don't get exposed to the commercial world as a result of not being represented by a known 'company'. We're really excited to be getting Flaunt off the ground and giving our clients access to those people.”
