The new brand identity for the Edinburgh International Science Festival has been designed by Edinburgh agency Redpath.

This is the first rebrand since the previous identity was created over a decade ago.
Red Path was appointed to create the new look and inject the fun, variety and excitement of the festival into it.

Andrew Hunter, chairman of Redpath, explained: “Science and technology is such a varied subject and the festival programme is just as varied. Our challenge was to create an identity that demonstrated the appeal of the festival to people of all ages and backgrounds, without appearing too high-brow or dumbed down.”

Hunter continued: “We chose a modern typeface and a bold, vibrant colour palette, and punctuated the identity with familiar and intriguing science themed icons.”

The agency has also created a complementary identity for the Edinburgh International Science Festival’s schools touring programme, Generation Service while also developing the promotional communications for this year’s festival.
