A Tyneside film and digital media company that worked on the Slumdog Millionaire hit movie has itself been celebrating over Oscars weekend.
The company provided on-screen graphics for Slumdog Millionaire. It is the third DNA Films movie Mere Mortals has worked on, as their four year relationship has seen them also provide graphics and post production support on Danny Boyle’s ‘Sunshine’ and ‘28 Weeks Later’ releases.
Mere Mortals in Newcastle picked up its own gong last Saturday night’s Royal Television Society awards at the Sage Gateshead, just hours ahead of Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire winning eight Oscars in Hollywood.
Mere Mortals won the RTS award for its work on a local TV commercial to attract foster carers called Foster a Future for Newcastle City Council’s Children’s Services department.
Steve Walmsley, managing director of Mere Mortals, said: “Our work on Slumdog Millionaire was a fast turnaround job over the Christmas holidays 2007/8 because DNA Films knew from experience we would deliver. We’ve worked together on three movies now and look forward to a continued relationship on Danny’s future projects.”
