Manchester-based marketing consultancy Blue Monkey is jetting to the Central Amazon in East Peru to work with Cool Earth and Tropicana (USA).

Blue Monkey's role is to spend two weeks with the Ashaninka tribe and provide enough video footage, pictures and stories for both Cool Earth's and Tropicana's websites.

Drinks brand Tropicana has just launched a 12-month on-pack promotion in North America, which enables its consumers to preserve 100 square feet of rainforest for each carton of juice purchased.

Cool Earth was set up to protect endangered rainforest, combat global warming and provide sustainable jobs for local people. It has so far saved 42,000 acres.

Blue Monkey director, Lee Herbert, who will be making the trip to Peru, said: "By working in association with Cool Earth and Tropicana we can really make a difference. There are a lot of brands at the moment swinging towards this type of Ethical and Socially responsible promotion, which is good news for all.”

Herbert will live in the open air among the indigenous Ashaninka people for 10 days, and meet with the Peruvian Environment Minister in Lima, at the end of March.

For every client it works with Blue Monkey purchases an acre of Rainforest. Every acre protected saves 260 tons of carbon emissions, which is over ten times an average household’s emission.
