Northsound Radio has announced that it has appointed Joe Odber as head of news.

Odber takes over the role from Sarah Campbell having previously worked in Edinburgh at Talk 107 where he held the post of deputy editor until the stations closure at the beginning of the year.

He will be made responsible for overseeing the news gathering operation of the station each day and will look to ensure that listeners are brought the most up-to-date stories from across Aberdeen City and Shire.

He has previously worked with Dundee-based Wave 102 until 2002, when he joined Real Radio until 2006.

Odber commented: “I hope I can bring enthusiasm, experience and a good head for news. It’s a real privilege to join Northsound.  It’s a much loved station with a great pedigree, and we’ve got a great news team who are a joy to work with.”

Sarah Campbell has moved on to BAA Aberdeen Airport where she has taken up the role of media and communications manager.
