Cooney to leave Radio Clyde

Following the news earlier today that Bauer had appointed Graham Bryce as MD of its Scottish radio stations, it has been revealed that Paul Cooney is to be made redundant from Radio Clyde.

Cooney, who has been at the Glasgow based station for more than 35 years was previously tipped for the MD role.

Bryce will begin his role on 8 June and will in report into Dee Ford, managing director of radio at Bauer. He will oversee the running of eight stations including Radio Forth, Radio Clyde and West Sound.

Nothing like throwing the baby out with the bath water. Au revoir Paul, you have done a great job and I am sure we will see you somewhere else in Radioland sooner rather than later.

Bauer seem to be asset stripping again. Shame. Good luck Paul.

Typical big company decision. Another famous Scottish institution loses its identity and goes into longterm decline.

What a waste of locally spawned talent. Hope you stay in Scotland Paul. Your country needs you!
