Fabric, the London nightclub, will be the venue for this year's Chip Shop Awards in June.

The club will play host to the event, organised by The Drum, on Wednesday, 10 June, when it will be revealed who will be taking home this year's Chips – the winners' prizes.

Unlike most industry ceremonies, the Chip Shop Awards is billed as having 'no rules' and work entered does not have to run – some of the ads are deemed too divisive or provocative to ever see the light of day.

But Dave Trott, creative director of CST and chairman of the 2009 judging panel, said a lot of this year's entries could have run.

“Sadly though, we are looking at ads that did not run because nobody wants to run fun ads anymore,” he told us.

Last year's event, held in Edinburgh during festival season, was judged by a panel headed by Michael Wolff. The grand prix award went to National Galleries of Scotland for the Warhol-inspired decoration of its museum.
