The Drum has learned that Gordon Santana, head of sales and marketing for Scotsman Publications has left the company.

It is thought that Santana may have been made redundant by the company after around ten years at the company having joined from John Menzies Distribution.

No one at Johnston Press was able to comment on Santana’s departure due to an ongoing legal issue.

It is understood that he will be replaced in the role.

In March the company saw a drop of 35% in its advertising revenue in the first months of 2009 as the company saw its property advertising in the UK drop by 32.4% year on year to £54.3m.

Employment advertising fell by 19.5% for the year to £82m, while the last quarter saw this drop to a 40% year-on-year fall.

Motors classified revenue fell by 21.2% year-on-year to £31.9m, with that fall increasing to 29.5% in the last three months of 2008.

Meanwhile, The Scotsman's Glasgow office is set to relocate to the South Side of the city in a move which it's thought could save the company around £100,000 a year.

So the bad figures are Santana's fault are they? Nothing to do with a recession then.
I've met Gordon, when he was my client at Menzies, and I thought he was a thoroughly nice bloke. Obviously not dealt with him since but I hope he finds something new, and maybe better.
