Elmwood has announced that it is restructuring the design company across the globe with Nick Ramshaw, currently head of Elmwood Leeds becoming head of European Operations.

Ramshaw will continue to oversee the Leeds operation while also handling European duties.

The news follows Maryanne Murray’s appointment as client services director at Elmwood Edinburgh after managing director Jo Coomber’s departure.

The agency has also appointed Elliot Wilson as managing director in London and Jonathan Cartwright as managing director of its Australian business with Joe Rodgers stepping up to become Vice President of Asia.

Key sectors for the company will have a floating director who will oversee client activity across all of Elmwood’s offices, as well as dedicated on the ground specialists in each location.

The company has also said that it is actively looking at further acquisitions in different sectors and markets.

Jonathan Sands, chairman of Elmwood, explained: “We have grown rapidly in the past 18 months, largely off the back of winning large international pieces of work.  But we live in changing times and recognise it is necessary to adapt to our clients’ changing needs.

"Moving away from a location-based business structure allows us the flexibility to bring together local knowledge and our global network of branding and design experts.

“We have invested almost £1 million in new recruits over the past year, but this isn’t just about adding more people. It is also about investing in people, and testament to that is the fact that even in these difficult times, our learning budget remains as high as our marketing budget.

"It is fantastic that we have been able to weather the downturn so well to date, but I am under no illusions that our transition into a global business will present various other challenges along the way. Keeping the culture and team stable over the next year will I am sure be one of the biggest.”
