Edinburgh-based agency Family has received plaudits for its intro film for the Scottish Design Awards 2009.
Now is your chance to see what was described on the night by one audience member as: "One of the best awards intro films I've ever seen, really nice work and very different."
The film was a real team effort at Family by Michael Fraser, Mark McGrotty, David Isaac and Kevin Bird.
The film received much credit on the night from the 420-plus members of the Scottish design community that were in attendance to see StudioLR crowned Design Team of the Year and Elmwood win the Grand Prix for its Telford College poster work.
The Scottish Design Awards demonstrate and prove the design talent, whether it be graphic or architectural, which is taking place in Scotland.

I was at the awards, and as the film began to run, the whole audience went quiet. Quite simply, brilliant.
Very nicely written.
That style works brilliantly, as long as the text is powerful. Like this:

It should be "justify your very being" not "your every being".
Undeniably gripping stuff.
Totally understand the comparison to the wonderful 'Foggy Bummer' but the idea was more about capturing 'that moment in time' at an awards do. Which it did do, or so I'm told. I was tucking into the beers by then.
But apologies to Mr F. Bummer.
Certainly a little more, er, 'accessible' than the Roses intro film which was also greeted with complete silence. But not in a good way.
Comparisons be damned. This is perfectly paced, well-written and beautifully executed. Sparkly stuff indeed.
Yeah, well done Family but you raise an interesting point anon. If you do do the math anon then if The Drum makes approx £80,000 per event it organises as you suggest, then over the last 25 years, if The Drum has averaged 15 events a year across all sectors, it has raked in £30m from events alone. I can't believe that Gordon Young still goes to work everyday when he's got £30m in his arse pocket can you? Anon you're clearly a clueless idiot.
very nice.
I'm not going to get drawn into an argument about how ludicrously wealthy Gordon Young is, but we would like to know what you would like to see us putting back into the industry. Just a few pointers and we'll see what we can do for you. Perhaps I could suggest that we offer you a work placement with our events team and then you might get a better grip on how much it costs to organise events. Just a thought.
I like it a lot. Well done Family. A tricky brief.
And you have to take your hat (mask?) off to Carnyx for allowing this feirdy Anon debate when it centres on their livelihood.
It would be so much easier for them to moderate all you scaredy cats and, in so doing, protect their image.
Why not go on Richard's work placement? Nah, you'll not be able to read all the info through stocking masks.
Lovely, well written, voiced and animated. I was hoping that the end would see the camera would zoom out and we'd see an overall piece formed though.
Great stuff. Perfectly captured the essence of what it feels like to be on the awards front line.
