VisitScotland awards web work to the Union Consortium

The Union Consortium has been appointed to build a new seasonal website for VisitScotland after a competitive tender.

The site, which will be adapted for each season, will be designed to provide rich content and support the tourism body's UK and Ireland marketing activity.

“The importance of the internet to tourism marketing cannot be overstated," said Graham Jones, digital planning director for the Union Consortium.

"VisitScotland has an ambitious and exciting vision as to how they see their seasonal websites delivering an enhanced visitor experience and increased revenues for the tourism industry. Our job is to make this vision a reality.”

VisitScotland has also appointed the Union Consortium to design and build the tourism body's corporate website.

It will involve "a major migration" of existing data and content and the introduction of a new content management system.

The site will feature video, tag-based navigation and polls as VisitScotland looks to create an "effective interactive two-way relationship" with key industry stakeholders.

The Union Consortium was created by Union Digital, w00tonomy and Conscia to work on the Scottish Government's new digital roster.
