Interpublic Group agencies McCann Erickson and Momentum have been appointed to the national £10million advertising and DM accounts for fast food chain Subway.
The ATL pitch, held by AAR last week included incumbent Glasgow agency Frame, Iris London and Krow.
McCann will be tasked with leading the company's new advertising strategy, while Momentum has been assigned the task to handle point of sale and digital activity.
It is thought that McCann's regional agencies including Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol as well as London will be involved in the operation of the UK wide account.
Alex Cacouris, head of marketing for Subway, explained: "Frame has done a phenomenal job at supporting the business through this period of growth and have been an incredible asset to the business.
‘We believe that McCann Erickson and Momentum will provide the combination of creativity and a strategic approach that will be needed to help drive the business forward through its next phase of development."
Garry O'Donnell, commerical director at Frame, commented: "After a five year relationship with us, Subway National has chosen to go with McCann Erickson in London, following a four-way pitch that also included Iris and krow.
"Inevitably, we will have to restructure as a result of the announcement, but ours is a healthy business with great people and clients. We’re still working with Subway on a regional basis as we have done since well before we were appointed to the National brief."
He concluded: "Subway is a special business and brand, and we are proud of our long association with Subway National. We wish them and McCann’s every success in the period ahead."

Commiserations to Frame. I know that they'll bounce back from this.
Sorry - but there's no way McCanns would beat Frame creatively. Must have been other reasons.
You're saying 'if McCann is successful'. Have they won it or not?
McCanns have only won the national tv - the regional stuff will be handled by better regional agencies
that's right, the Frame work was probably some of the best creative work I've seen coming out of Scotland...
A very commendable response from Frame. I wish them all the best.
Gutted to hear the news. Frame did a top job doing great ads. It's a shame to see the business going south.
Crazy decision. Has anyone else noticed lately how Subway's meatballs have shrunk?
Angus, Garry, Bish and the team show great humility. But their momentum will not be slowed by this, in fact it will just galvanise and motivate them.
I recommend listening to the song 'Fighter' by Christina Aguilera. I think you'll find the lyrical sentiment both relevant and motivating.
Frame, you are beautiful, no matter what they say.
Thanks George. And thanks Gareth. And thanks Don for your nice (if unintelligible) words.
Contrary to what you say, Don, Subway's balls haven't shrunk.
And neither have ours.
c'mon you're all being too nice
frame lost subway beacuse the ads were average at best
anyone thinks otherwise has been in scotland too long
Drum-Here's an idea: Ditch the 'anonymous' tick box from this section. If nobody has the (meat)balls to give a name to their comments, then f*ck 'em! At times like this, our game needs rampant positivity, not the usual Scottish, negative pish from jealous or bitter morons or crappers. All those pussies too frightened to give their ramblings even a nom de plume should be exposed and forced to eat Subway pish for a fortnight. However, one big client stuffs most agencies sooner or later. Faulds, McCann, Halls etc etc etc...it's always going to be a problem. Loyalty only exists in supermarket cards now! Framers, don't let it drag you down!
Nice one Victor! Get rid of the coward tick option.
If the Admins would allow you to change your details (my surname and first name are backwards), then I'm all for it. For the record, I like what frame had done.
Greggs it is.
But not getting half the responses would be a benefit, not a tragic side-effect.
I understand why the self publicists despise the anon option, but for us lesser mortals its a chance to have a view without getting dragged into a self indulgent clever fest.
People have the right to post anonymously if they are implicated in the story (jobs may be at stake). If it's just snidey remarks for the sake of it, then they are just pussies. Frame shoild be congratulated for their humility. McCanns will only do a good job if it's London or Manchester. End of.
Anon (2 down) why won't McCanns in Brum or Bristol do a "good job" then?
Good point anon one down. There's plenty of talent in the Brum one. And creatives too. *Boom Boom*
The problems with Subway are not with the advertising agencies, but with the internal structure...I give it 6 months before Frame are running the national account again! Commiserations to Frame but hold on in there and remember to demand a bigger retainer when Subway come crawling back!
To all the guys at Frame, whatever happens I hope you rise stronger for this. Having worked with you I know what a great team you are. You’ve been one of the shining lights in our industry and dignity in defeat is no surprise. You’ve been through worse times and I know you will come together and make sure that Frame remains one of the better examples of what a Scottish agency should be.
Mine’s a sausage roll!!!
